			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Recently I have been looking for new workouts without weights otherwise known as bodyweight workouts to mix up my training and work my body at a different level.</p>
<p>Years ago I used to do a lot of circuit training but this was with weights and I wanted something I could do at home or quickly in the gym when I had a spare 30 minutes</p>
<p>So I was searching around on the internet (You tube to be precise) for some fresh workout ideas when I came across this video</p>

<p>This &#8220;Crazy 8 Body Weight Circuit&#8221; is one of Craig Ballantyne&#8217;s Intermediate level routines. This is one of whole range of workouts with weight that are contained in the <a href="http://issonline.turbulence.hop.clickbank.net/?page=orderpage">Deluxe Edition Turbulence Training Course</a>. This course is a little more expensive than his Basic Course, but it focuses on body weight training. It is one the most wide-ranging and proven body weight course on the market. Don’t worry if you think this workout looks too tough because there are workouts for all levels of fitness so if you want to explore the world of body weight training further then its well worth checking out.</p>
<p>Anyway I am a big fan of Craig Ballantyne and already own his <a href="http://issonline.turbulence.hop.clickbank.net">Turbulence Training for fat loss</a> (<a href="http://energiafitness.com/turbulence-training-review-is-this-the-real-deal/">see my review here</a>) so I know that the stuff he puts out there is quality and I decided to give this workout a try and also see how a couple of my advanced clients would handle it.</p>
<p>I now know I&#8217;m not as fit as I thought.<br />
Looking at the workout I though it didn’t look to difficult but how wrong I was!<br />
After around 30 minutes of torture I finished my third circuit absolutely broken and it was the same for my clients as well….but we loved it!!!!</p>
<p>So inspired by this workout I designed a couple of my own you might like to try</p>
<p>The first one is;</p>
<p>Bodyweight Squats with front kicks x 20<br />
Perform a normal squat but kick one foot out at the end of the movement</p>
<p>Pull Ups or Bodyweight Rows (at home I use my pullup bar or TRX suspension straps to do bodyweight rows) x10<br />
Go for mixture of different grips on the pullups</p>
<p>Moving Press ups<br />
Do a normal push up then keeping in the high position move sideways one step and do another press up. Move back to original position then keep repeating</p>
<p>Front lunges &#8211; 15 each leg</p>
<p>Grasshoppers x 10 each leg<br />
Start in a high plank (press up position) then keeping your hips flat bring one of your knees to the opposite elbow keeping the abs contracted.</p>
<p>Skipping or running on spot with high knees x 50<br />
Try to keep your knees as high as possible when doing either of these.</p>
<p>Tricep Pressup<br />
A normal press up but with your hands close together</p>
<p>Jumping jacks with touchdown x 50<br />
Jump as wide as possible and try to touch the floor with one hand before bringing the feet back together. Keep your back straight as you lean down. Alternate hands with every rep</p>
<p>Move from one exercise to the other with no rest. Try to perform 2 or 3 circuits with only a minute rest between each one.</p>
<p>The second one is a bodyweight/Cardio Workout.</p>
<p>Now bodyweight training in circuit fashion with little or no rest on its own is very demanding on the cardio vascular system so adding in pure cardio exercise such as running, cycling or skipping will have your lungs gasping for mercy. This one absolutely smacks my butt and keeps my metabolism on full throttle for hours after.</p>
<p>Pike Press up or decline press up ie feet on a raised surface<br />
Pike press is a normal press up but with your hips and butt high in the air and back straight. Bend your arms and lower your forehead to almost touch the ground. This targets the shoulders more than the chest.</p>
<p>Reverse lunges x 15 each leg</p>
<p>Squat thrusts x 20<br />
Start in a high plank postion with legs wide.</p>
<p>Low to high plank &#8211; 10 reps<br />
As the name suggests start with a normal plank position on your forearms. Keeping your back straight and abs tight move your arms to a high plank ie arms straight then back down again. That is one rep.</p>
<p>3-5 minutes running on a treadmill or cycle or if outside running or skipping</p>
<p>The cardio portion should be done at a level of exertion where it is difficult to talk but not at maximum. For example I prefer to use the treadmill for this in the gym. I normally jog at a speed of 10kph and do my HIIT sprints at between 16-18kph so for this workout I would run for 3-5 mins at 13/15kph which is just in between. Obviously as you do this more often and your fitness improves this speed should move higher.</p>
<p>The beauty of workouts without weights is that you can do them anywhere at with no or little equipment required except maybe a pull up bar. (You can get round this by using trees etc when working outside) These workouts won’t put on any muscle but they will get you lean, stronger and fitter and you can modify them easily if your just starting out or coming back to exercise. With this adaptability and the relatively low resistance your workouts are never stale with lots of new exercises to try without risking injury.</p>
<p>Lifting heavy weights is great, and cardio such as HIIT is essential to fat loss but there is something very satisfying a sense of achievement when you “destroy” your body with a intense bodyweight circuit. Give them a try on your next workout…you won’t regret it.</p>

<p>To achieve this result your leg workouts need to include body weight and free weight movements. This is because every free movement leg exercise uses not only the legs but many more muscles in the body. So the more muscle you utilize the harder you work and the more intense the exercise the more energy you burn resulting in fat loss.</p>
<p><strong><span style="background-color: #edaab5;">Look at any of the leading fat loss fitness programs and you will see workouts that include lots of leg movement. </span></strong></p>
<p>Well known leg exercises like the lunge and squat also give your abs a great workout. This is because when you are performing these types of exercises your abdominal muscles are recruited to provide balance and stability. Start adding weight as well and they have to work even harder resulting in a stronger, tighter and flatter stomach.</p>
<p>So for a great inner thigh workout that burns fat and flattens the abs that you can do either in the gym or at home I recommend the following 2 inner thigh exercises</p>
<p><strong>A side or lateral lunge. 3 x 10 reps each leg</strong></p>
<p>For this inner thigh exercise begin with just your body-weight then when you can perform it correctly introduce medicine balls and dumbbells. Oh by the way this will also work you butt really hard!.</p>
<p>Begin with feet shoulder width apart inhale then slowly take a large step to the side and when you place your foot on the floor bend your knee and lower yourself down with your back straight as far as you can go. Try to keep your stationery leg as straight as possible then you will feel a stretch right down the inner thigh. Return to starting position. Initially you might not be able to get that low but over time you should find that you could step out further with more range of movement and start adding weight.</p>
<p>Here is great video of side lunges in action with a medicine ball. Notice how challenging they are!</p>

<p><strong>Sumo Squats: 3 x 15 reps </strong></p>
<p>Starting out these are best done using a dumbbell to target the inner thighs.</p>
<p>Here is a quick explanation for doing a sumo squat. Spread you feet wide and make sure your toes are pointing in the opposite directions so your inner thighs are facing outwards.With your weight evenly distributed hold the dumbbell at one end and with straight arms let it hang below your waist. Inhale then bend your knees and push your hips backward making sure your back is not rounded with your head up. Lower yourself down until the weight is almost touching the floor</p>
<p>Exhale as you slowly bring your hips forward and straighten your legs. Try to keep your head and chest up as you return to the starting position. Repeat as required.</p>
<p>This is good example of a Sumo Squat but I would point the toes more outwards for a more intense inner thigh burn</p>

<p>For maximum effectiveness and to reduce the chance of injury these inner thigh  exercises must be performed after you have fully warmed up and with good technique. If you are not sure how to do these properly I would recommend getting a fitness professional to coach you properly either at the gym or at your home. These three movements are not only a effective inner thigh workout but will help you get a leaner and more functional body so start including them in your fitness regime</p>

Now I always answer that for the best looking legs you honestly must include exercises such as lunges, squats, deadlifts and step-ups to produce those sexy firm thighs that will have your close friends green with envy.</p>

<p>However within the gym I still see a considerable amount of girl using only the machines, steppers and cross trainers with the expectation of toning up the thighs. Now I will accept that these can be fairly effective, however if you want the moves which produce the best results then you need to start working with free weights or your bodyweight.</p>
<p>The reason why I endorse free movement training so highly is because with these types of thigh exercises there are literally tons of different variations of each exercise that you can use. This means your leg workouts are never dull  and your thighs will always be receiving a superb workout.</p>
<p><span style="background-color: #ff7070;">A super example of one the best thigh exercises you can do is the good old lunge. There are a large amount of modifications of this exercise and they all make your thighs burn and firm like crazy.</span><a href="http://energiafitness.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/girl-lunging.jpg"><br />

If you have never completed a lunge previously then a useful beginning position is the static lunge.</p>
<p><strong>Quick explanation of technique</strong></p>
<p>To perform this motion correctly step forward so that your front shin remains as vertical as achievable and your front thigh is approximately parallel to the floor.In this position the rear foot ought to be on the ball of the foot. Then simply keeping your back straight and arms at your side lower the knee of the trailing leg virtually to the floor then rise back up. Carry out as many repetitions as you can then switch legs.</p>
<p>Starting off with the static lunge will probably help you to build your balance and co-ordination before incorporating movement to the exercise. Oh yes if carried out right it will have your thighs begging for mercy particularly when you begin using dumbbells as well.</p>
<p><strong>What if I am doing lunges already?</strong></p>
<p>If you are already doing lunges then a even more progressed variation is adding angles to either a forward lunge or reverse lunge. If you pace outwards or backwards so that you cross over or behind the other foot you will benefit from a different stretch and be working considerably more the exterior thigh and bottom.</p>
<p><strong>How to burn fat as well as sculpt the thighs</strong></p>
<p>Another massive benefit of doing exercises such as lunges is they help you shed tons of body fat as well as toning up the thighs. A great way to do this is by performing walking lunges. <p>The Model D is comfortable to use with a ergonomic handle designed to  allow natural arm and hand positions. The seat slides along a aluminum  rail capped with a stainless steel track which gives it a smooth seat  movement  .</p>
<p>There is also a quiet flywheel that is designed to reduce noise and a   spiral damper that lets users select your own drag factor from 1-10  with  1 the lowest and 10 the highest. A quick tip &#8211; normally 4-5 is  what  real rowers use as it is most like water..</p>

<p>But the way I figure it: Would you rather be healthIER and lean or UNhealthy and overfat?</p>
<p>Silly question&#8230; so consider &#8220;Fast Food Fitness&#8221; a path to the lesser of two evils&#8230; and one that actually got me to 10% bodyfat (that&#8217;s pretty lean!) a few years ago.</p>
<p>Here&#8217;s how it started:</p>
<p>I simply hate to cook!  I have since solved that problem&#8230; I hired a part-time chef (it&#8217;s cheaper than it sounds)&#8230; but until two years ago I was eating out every single meal&#8230; I mean EVERY MEAL.</p>
<p>Most of the time&#8230; not all of the time, but most of the time&#8230; these meals were fast food joints like burger joints and even fried chicken places.</p>
<p>But I had to keep my physique, so &#8230; what to do?</p>
<p>Well&#8230; you&#8217;ll have to wait. At least a few weeks.</p>

<p>Here&#8217;s 3 of my top 25 fast-food diet-tips&#8230; just these 3 will take you 1/3 of the way there&#8230;</p>
<p>First, use my Half-n-Half Principle. Order whatever you are going to order and then have the person behind the counter cut the order exactly in HALF.</p>
<p>Half to go&#8230; half to eat there.</p>
<p>Eat half now&#8230;. then the other half 3-4 hours later. Believe it or not you will store less bodyfat and even increase your metabolism eating like this.</p>
<p>Simple trick&#8230; give it a shot.</p>
<p>Second, ditch all the starch. That means buns, bread and anything made of flour. BUT here&#8217;s the &#8220;still tastes good&#8221; trick I use. I keep ONE of the pieces of bread from, say, my hamburger. Then I &#8220;pick&#8221; at it while I enjoy the meat and either a small diet soda or tea. Eat no more than 5 &#8220;picks&#8221; at the bread&#8230; about half a slice. You still get the exact taste of a burger with none of the stuff that makes most people over-fat.</p>
<p>Third, for you chicken lovers, split your order between fried and baked chicken. KFC has excellent baked chicken&#8230; try it. Then strip most of the skin off the fried chicken. Not all&#8230; most.</p>
<p>You still get the taste, but with far fewer bad food-stuffs and calories&#8230;. make sense?</p>
