How to break a Weight loss plateau

I think that everybody who has attempted to lose weight has hit a point where your progress just seems to stop. This can become very de-motivating and can derail your efforts so the first step to take if you want to break a weight loss plateau is to remain positive and focused on your goal.

This focus should remain on where you are heading and not on where you are at this particular time, always keep your mind on the bigger picture. A week with no progress can be turned into a positive as now you have feedback on your diet and exercise regime and you can see what is not working and that maybe its time to change. The people that can have a one, two or even several weeks of slow results but still retain that ultimate faith in reaching their goal are the ones will get there.

The people who never get what they want will just give up after a few weeks of frustration and claim that they tried everything but it just didn’t work.

You have to remember that losing weight and changing your body shape for good is not easy. A strong focused mindset is absolutely critical and I would say the difference between those who succeed and those who fail.

When you do hit a weigh loss plateau, the usual solution is that you need to start working harder. You need to push up the intensity and frequency of your training and you need to work harder on your diet to keep it clean and controlled.

For example, if you’re doing 25 minutes of cardio per session increase this to say 35 minutes. If you’re doing 40 minutes, you can increase it to 50 minutes. If your average heart rate is 130bpm try and increase it to 140bpm.

With your diet if you’re only having 3 meals per day, boost your metabolism by eating 5 or 6 smaller ones. If you’re cheating 2 or 3 times a week cut this down to only one cheat meal a week.

As I have mentioned before it takes a lot of hard work to get a great body and I think many people often underestimate the amount of effort that is actually required. It also doesn’t help that the media is full of advertisements for weight loss products that are just completely unrealistic and sometimes false in their claims of how easy it is to lose weight.

Basically when trying to break a weight loss plateau you have to train harder and diet with more strictness. Also accept that the road to reaching peak condition and a lean body is never an easy one but it is one worth traveling.
