If you need to lose a few extra pounds that you carrying around then I suggest you introduce yourself to a cup of green tea. Yes, that’s right, green tea.

For centuries, the Chinese and the Japanese have been drinking this miracle brew because of its medicinal properties. Only recently, this tea has been brought over to the west and it has become a great hit. From the elderly, to middle aged people and even teenagers there is an ever increasing number of people now drinking this miracle tea.

So, why is it so good and how can it help you lose weight?

First of all, green tea is well known for the natural antioxidants it contains that can help fight major diseases such as cancer. For me that is reason enough to drink this tea but  when you have the other benefit of helping you to lose weight then it really does become a no brainer!

If you are overweight, then I highly recommend you start drinking this tea as part of your daily regime due to the properties it contains that naturally help the body burn fat while keeping it healthy.

This is due to the essential vitamins that help raise the metabolism rate of your body. So as you metabolic rate increases then body begins to convert more fat into energy helping you lose weight and make you feel more alert and energetic. Hopefully with this extra boost of energy you may be more inclined to do more exercise or just be more active generally.

Green tea can help to reduce your appetite. When you consume green tea on a regular basis, your appetite will tend to balance out much more easily. This means less cravings between meals so avoiding those naughty snacks that can soon derail any weight loss attempt.

Yet another great thing about this tea is that it helps reduce bad cholesterol. Due to antioxidants like polyphenols the threat of bad cholesterol in the body can be lowered plus boosting the immune system This means lower risk of strokes and heart disease which in my book is a winning combination.

There are many other health benefits linked to green tea and I recommend further research to find out exactly what has been proven.

The recommended intake of green tea is 3-4 cups a day and I would advise taking these before early evening especially if you are drinking a type that contains caffeine. Combined with a balanced, controlled diet and regular exercise green tea is a great asset not just in helping lose weight but in maintaining a healthy mind and body. Time to put the kettle on!!
