When a low carbohydrate diet is suitable to lose fat

Many low carbohydrate programs are based on the assumption that all people are carbohydrate sensitive or resistant to insulin . My own experience and with my personal training clients has showed this not to be completely true. Basically most people can lose body fat by just doing a combination of resistance and cardio training, cutting out the junk in their diets and reducing the amount they eat In other words, no carbs diets should be looked at as “last resort” diets or “peaking” diets for special events such as bodybuilding, fitness competition or a photo shoot.   low carb diet program is not suitable for keeping low body fat levels all year round, but a temporary tool for reaching your peak condition

So although reducing carbohydrates considerably is not the ultimate solution, no carbs diets can be very effective in certain situations to speed up fat loss. Here are three such scenarios where low carb dieting may be acceptable .

1. For carbohydrate-sensitive endomorph types

From my experience working with many clients, I would estimate that about 70%-80% of people will lose fat on a healthy balanced diet with little or no carbohydrate restriction . The remaining 20%-30% are the ones who have trouble maintaining a normal high carb, low fat program Even on a low fat, low calorie diet combined with regular exercise, these “carbohydrate sensitive” people still have a difficult time getting lean (and they’re often extremely frustrated with their lack of results despite their honest efforts). For carbohydrate sensitive people, a reduced carbohydrate diet with more protein and fat may be the answer..

Getting through a fat loss plateau

It is very normal for people on diets to have fantastic results for a certain period then all at once the fat stops moving  . That’s because all calorie-restricted diets eventually have some negative effect on the metabolism. The more severe you diet and the longer you diet, the greater the metabolic downgrade . Eventually this leads to most people experiencing a fat loss plateau which is very frustrating. If you have this problem then implementing a no carb diet or reduced carbohydrate approach with the “carbohydrate cycling method can assist in breaking through the plateau.

3. Bodybuilding, fitness or figure competition

Low carbohydrate diets are still considered controversial, but almost all bodybuilders and fitness competitors use them . Some will probably be more restrictive than others but all the successful bodybuilders I have researched have admitted to using no carb diets in some form to get shredded and lean for competitions and magazine photo shoots . If the low carbohydrate diet didn’t work, then you wouldn’t see male and female bodybuilders peak at very low levels of body fat . usual. Bodybuilders have known this for years and that’s the reason they are able to get so lean, year after year, contest after contest.

If your struggling to lose fat or need to get lean very quickly for a special event or occasion then I seriously recommend the Extreme fat loss diet.
